The concept of the Indian Cryosphere Meet originated from the Monthly Indian Glaciology Meet (MIGM) started in 2021-a monthly online gathering where researchers discussed recent advancements in glaciology and other cryosphere sciences. During these virtual meetings, the idea emerged to host a two-day, semi-formal meeting (ICM) that would bring together students and scientists for in-depth discussions on cryosphere research.
The active monthly meetings held on the last Friday of every month feature key paper presentations, scientific discussions, international guest talks , and updates on the latest news and advancements in glaciology.
